Baang in Greenwich
Tonight we visited Baang, in Greenwich, CT. This Chinese fusion restaurant has some great and innovative dishes. A constant theme is that of bold flavors. Marinades, sauces, dips, spice rubs, and heavy reductions are masterfully executed. Marvel at the crispness of the flash fried spinach and moistness of the meats and seafood and how well the chef is able to balance these exotic flavors while allowing the main ingredient to be the star of the dish.
Grilled Shanghai beef in hot oil with cilantro, wok sauteed vegetables, bamboo steamed vegetables, and stir-fry sesame citrus noodles nestle up to the barbecued salmon with mustard sauce and the ginger glazed jumbo shrimp just beautifully.
Delicious!

Space Shuttle lands safely
I watched the TV live this morning at 08:12 local time here in New York, as the Discovery made its descent and landed safely. Eileen Collins guided the shuttle in its return from space, diverting from the original landing in bad weather Orlando to instead touchdown at Edwards base in California, which was still in darkness. Thirteen dramatic days in space.

Some Girl(s)
Melanie and John had bought us tickets to Some Girl(s) at the Gielgud. We joined what was to be a packed theatre. David Schwimmer led the five person ensemble and played an ordinary and mildly ridiculous professional man about to get married, on a trail seeking closure with several old flames. He met each in hotel rooms spread across Seattle, Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles. His, for me, Ross-like performance style was edged with deliberate nervousness and ducking of awkward pauses by diving in to the mini-bars for Evian and cashew nuts.
At the same time, you glean that he's a whirl of thoughtless egotism who has left a trail of lasting hurt and bitterness in his wake. And he is now having his own early mid-life crisis. Just under the surface, he is a mess of anxieties, regrets, indecision and potential infidelity.

Soho
A late afternoon excursion to Soho, in Central London, prior to seeing a play in the evening found us around Greek Street and Old Compton Street, which was thriving with Londoners and tourists alike.
We sought refuge and Lebanese food in Maison Touareg where we were genially hosted as we ate spiced foods and drank mint tea.

Site makeover in stages
I've been looking at ways to improve the look of the site and in particular to bring in some micrographics to smooth a few of he rough edges. I've decided to use 'White' for the main text area now, so that I can drop white background pictures in directly and get soft edges when I want them.
Over a few cups of coffee, I will progressively change the site away ftom the multiple greens as I make the look 'cleaner'.

click roll squeeze and scroll
I've sort of got used to mousing around with only one button, but I have to admit those right clicks were jolly useful. Salvation would seem to be at hand.

Celebration
The scene was set for our special gathering in Essex. We were on time and so were the rest of the gang. This public site shows a pretty view of the venue. We will create a small separate site for those "in the know" to check through the photos. My cufflinks were great and I am sure Julie will enjoy E.T. Our thanks to all who joined us.
